We are so stoked to share our beautiful Micro Wedding with you! Our Backyard Wedding was Boho and Intimate and Magical AND on the Spring Solstice! (V actually proposed on the Autumnal Solstice two years prior) Our biggest expense was hiring a professional photographer and videographer to capture our Micro Wedding Ceremony and Reception and Party. This was super important to us because having a Microwedding (especially a Covid Micro Wedding), not everyone who would've liked to participate was able to and we wanted to be able to share the experience with them through the micro wedding videography.
We thought we had lost the video when we switched computers last year, but alas! We found it! And get to share our experience and tips and tricks with you!
So... some tips to take note of!
Get Thrifty! Find as many decor items second hand as possible and repurpose what you already have at home! Some examples: We turned a desk into an outdoor bar, we found church pews that were being discarded, and we used boho rugs to make an aisle.
Utilize Your People! (But not in a Bridezilla way) The key to this is asking, not telling, people to help you with things they're already passionate about and wouldn't take money out of their pocket. Some examples: One of V's groomsmen djs at parties sometimes and has great speakers so we asked him to run our playlist for us, our friend is a festival bartender so we asked him to help us come up with a simple drink menu and help pour champagne, one of Montana's bridemaids had an event coordination business so we asked her to help us set up and make the place look beautiful. These were all people close to us and who were happy to help but if they had declined that would've been okay too! Most people WANT to help but they also have their own lives so don't ask for too much or get crazy when they can't deliver.
Get food from your favorite places! Since you won't be going with a fancy venue that only allows their own caterers and a traditional menu, think outside the box! We went with a massive charcuterie board for cocktail hour from a local spot we love, sushi from our favorite sushi place, and burrito bowls from our favorite taco joint. We also went with family made pasties along with our favorite tarts from Publix! These were all things we knew were amazing and everyone would love and it was perfect. It also ended up being less per head then any fancy catering wedding menu.
There are so many details that made this day AMAZING! So please ask us in the comments any questions you have!
